Focussed on helping their clients to understand and plan for their financial future, their primary areas of advice are pensions planning (PPP to SIPP switches, Drawdown, OPS, DB, EPP) and investment planning (ISAs, OEICs), also advising (but to a lesser extent) on VCT, EIS, Structured Products and, of course, Trusts and tax planning. They are a well systemised business with a robust investment proposition – all managed internally.

Our client, a small IFA practice based in Hove currently have 3 directors, 1 compliance and 1 full time adviser along with 6 support staff.  The directors started the business back in June 1989 so next year will be their 30th anniversary.

The business main focus to date has been funds under management via ISA, General Investment accounts, Pension and Wealth Management or IHT planning accounts.

At present the business has circa £300m under management and approximately 77% of all income received is via on going adviser fees. They do not, and have never, advertised – with all of their clients coming from recommendations. There is a lot to be said for a business that has been going for this long and their approach to client care has resulted in the solid revenue from recommendations.

Retaining all their staff members since 2008 speaks volumes for the employee care provided here. They have a relaxed approach and many additional benefits such as 25 days holiday, discretionary bonuses twice yearly and generous salaries.

Due to their growing success, they are now looking for an experienced Paraplanner to work alongside one of the directors.

Direct experience within an independent financial advisory firm is essential – ideally with direct exposure and experience to their main areas listed above. The ideal candidate will hold the diploma in financial planning, or equivalent. Candidates working towards this qualification will also be considered, but it should be noted that this is a position to work alongside and support a director so experience is essential.
